It is true - or, I suppose, it is true that this has been rumoured. Not sure how solid the rumour is, but I don't hold out much faith. If there's two things Hollywood seems to love destroying, its a) Comic franchises and b) Joss Whedon's career. Therefore, there's no chance they'd let Joss make an excellent film about the most epic of all Marvel Team-Ups.

Marvel has been building to this for a while. The Iron Man film was actually just a two hour long trailer for The Avengers. One nice thing that's come from Disney buying the beloved comic company is that the rights to all characters will rest with the same movie studio, meaning maybe a Spider-Man Meets the X-Men film, and whatnot. Actually, that sounds pretty bad.

Apologies to everyone reading today's comic who is not a fan of Joss Whedon, Felicia Day or Marvel Comics. I'd also like to apologise in advance, as although this is a gaming comic we're mainly going to be sticking with Marvel superheroes for the next week or so...

Tomorrow: The Spider-Fan Saga begins!

I loved Felicia Day in Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long-Blog.

Actually I think Captain America is being played by the guy that plays the Human Torch...which is stupid because now the Fantastic Four can't meet him

Really? Well that's stupid. I wouldn't think that guy's...well, bit enough. I always imagined Cap as like a big giant viking - huge with really blue eyes and blond hair.

But, I suppose, if anyone's going to look like a Viking, it ought to be Thor... I just shot my own argument in the foot.

Well the big priority was getting an American actor, which makes sense. Still, cast somebody that isn't a character in the same franchise

Yes, I can see that getting an American might be important - although Arnie could probably do a pretty good job were he not currently occupied...

I still think I, should write and direct the film. I remember planning it years ago - Captain America had shellshock and the super soldier serum was slowly killing him, Iron Man was an alcoholic (one of the more interesting elements of his character in the comic book) and Thor was a deity facing the challenge of not being believed in any more. Scarlet Witch was the daughter of a mutant terrorist and not having a great time, Hawkeye was an ex-con...basically, everyone had real life problems, on top of having to stop a Skrull invasion or something.

EDIT: On re-read, I realise that Lonely God syndrome, having a terrorist father and being slowly killed by the the formula that turned you into a superhero aren't what I'd call "real life problems", but it'd still make for a cool movie.
