- I'm feeling mostly well now, thanks.

Um, this one may offend people. I'd like to point out that Totally Crossover does not endorse anything said by Ron Clements, even if I put the words in his mouth. I just kinda feel like his latest animated film is a pretty poorly veiled attempt to make Disney seem more modern - something I think it fails at completely. The whole film was less than impressive, and the fact that the only way they could include a Black Disney Princess was by making that the selling point, kinda rubs me up the wrong way.

I've lived a large chunk of my life as a white minority, first attending a school that is 90% Muslim, then living in China for two years. As such I don't judge people according to their race at all, but tend to be a little too free with my comments - an outsider might not be able to tell that I make jokes with a spirit of love rather than bigotry. So, in case anyone is offended by today's comic, I appologize. I didn't mean it like that.

I heard that the movie inspired little girls to actually kiss a frog, winding them up into the hospital.

If only it did have Kermit in it... It would make any movie so much better.

I actually liked the movie despite its blatant racism. Heck, if you go back and watch some of the old disney movies you can see a lot of hints of racism (my favorite example is the first lion king, where scar sings. Hitler anyone?)

Of course, the funny thing is that small kids won't realize theirs racism in it (at least not conciously) and will simply think its a story about a prince and a sweet girl who get turned into frogs.

Of course, if you look at ANY movie long enough, I'm sure you could take it apart and find all sorts of little hidden things you never realized were there.

Two more things. First, I find it both amusing and mind numbing that there are christians out there who won't let their kids watch Disney movies because it has talking animals or talking plants. Trust me, I've met some.

Last thing, I like the Shadow man ^_^

I watched it over the weekend...As far as I could tell, there is 1 racist comment made by the real estate guys - that one is obvious, and the girl is obviously offended by it. I saw nothing else racist about the movie, unless you're just offended that Disney would make a movie about a black chick. That must automatically scream racism. The rich guy wasn't racist and the stupid pink girl was actually a decent friend to the black chick.

I was also just happy to have a movie that wasn't computer animated...

@guest:

Actually, despite the fact that it was a cartoon, most of it twas probally done on a computer. So in reality, it WAS a computer animated movie, only difference was that it was a 2d Cartoon computer animated movie instead of a 3d CG movie.

Sorry to say it, but most movies are going to be CGed to some degree from this year on.
