- I don't know why big game releases make these super elite bundles, where they include a bunch of stuff that nobody really wants - hasn't it been proven yet that just because a game is special edition, it doesn't mean it'll be worth anything extra in two months when you trade it in to buy the next big thing?

I personally contemplated the Mass Effect 2 collector's edition a little bit, before realising that for the extra money, all I was getting was a metal tin and a walkthrough, neither of which I needed. Someone tried to sell me the FFXIII collector's edition, which came with a small hardback book of pictures, some postcards and a CD of the annoying, repetetive soundtrack for the game.

Although if any game did offer a miniature Hadron collider and an HK-47 bundled with the elite edition, I'd be tempted to buy it and throw the game away!

recantly i bought assassins creed 2 white edition. It contains a miniature of ezio(which i rarely move from its box) and two playable maps(which i cant play because they require your console to have internet). However, i really like it

Some of the special editions out there have bonus content, such as new areas that they didn't have the time to put in.

And then some special editions just have a shiny case. I personally don't care one way or the other, as my gaming genre is fairly limited. Most of my favorite games are grand strategy war games for the PC.

I pre-ordered the Halo: Reach Legendary Edition. Since its Bungie's last Halo game, I felt I should go all out. It comes with enough physical collectible stuff that I feel its worth it. Dr. Halsey's Journal, some digital goodies, a sweet box (frickin' huge), an artifact bag, and my personal favorite, a 10 pound statue of Noble team that can be used to bludgeon to death anyone who tries to mug you on the way home.

I quite enjoyed the Bioshock 2 special edition, mainly because it came with a bunch of art and music related stuff, my second favorite game elements after story/setting/characters. I feel like twenty-something extra bucks was a good deal for what I got with it, as well.
